Going without a number of key veterans in the lineup has affected the Ducks in the win column the last two games, of course, but the club was hoping to see some youngsters step up and showcase themselves.

Matt Beleskey was one of those who did as he had the first two-goal game of his career Friday night against St. Louis. Beleskey displayed a strong wrist shot on both scores that got past Blues goalie Chris Mason, giving the winger 10 goals for season to lead the Ducks' rookies.

Other players looking to secure roles in the club's future plans were auditioned. Winger Dan Sexton, who made a huge splash when Teemu Selanne was injured, was inserted back into the lineup along with center Ryan Carter.
