Anaheim Ducks Hockey Talk From Around The Web

Anaheim Ducks Playoff Preview

The Anaheim Ducks ended the season probably as the one team that no other team wanted to face in the playoffs but since they fell to the eight spot they will be facing the NHL Hockey team with the best record in the NHL this season the San Jose Sharks. I just picked up my discount Anaheim Ducks jersey and I'm ready to go to the local watering hole and watch the playoffs!

Am I the only Anaheim Ducks fan that would rather play the San Jose Sharks rather then the Detroit Red Wings?

Seriously, the Sharks are a great team but they've flopped in the playoffs before. When was the last time you heard of the Red Wins posting a dud in the playoffs?

Never that's when.

The Red Wings are the Yankees of hockey and if your team can somehow get past the Red Wings you're screwed in the next round from all the damn injuries...

So I'm happy the Anaheim Ducks are playing the Sharks and now the Ducks need to find a way to contain Jonathon CheeChoo who has terrorized the Ducks in the past.

Going into the playoffs I'm also concerned about the goalie play for the Ducks since neither Jean-Sebastien Giguere or Jonas Hiller really played well this season. My hopes are that J.S. Giguere does what he usually does in the playoffs and that's provide some stellar goal tending. We all know that the playoffs are sometimes dictated by the hot goalies that carry their teams the way Giguere carried the Ducks a few years back for a Stanley Cup Championship...

The goalie play will be especially critical for the Anaheim Ducks against the San Jose Sharks because of the top line for the Sharks which includes Joe Thornton, Jonathan CheeChoo, who is a Ducks killer, and Patrick Marleau.

The Sharks are a prolific scoring team and the Anaheim Ducks are going to have to keep the mistakes to a minimum and stay out of the penalty box, which they were unable to do all year, if they figure to have a chance against the San Jose Sharks in the first round of the playoffs.
