The Anaheim Ducks have finally taken a step in the right direction...
The Ducks recently announced that they have signed 6'6" defenseman Andy Sutton who played for the New York Islanders and the Ottawa Senators last season and tallied 13 points but more importantly finished second in the NHL with 204 blocked shots.
I've been banging on this drum for a while now but the Anaheim Ducks were never the same after they traded away Chris Pronger and didn't resign Francois Beauchemin a couple of seasons ago and the 6'6" Andy Sutton is a big stay-at-home defenseman which is exactly what the Ducks needed.
The Ducks are still a little short on their blue line but Sutton was a huge signing for them. Sutton may not have the big slap shot that Pronger had but he's a big guy that hits hard and won't let opposing players camp out in front of the goal which is something we saw too much of last season...
