Anaheim Ducks Hockey Learn From Last Years Mistakes

June 5th, 2008

In an effort to avoid the uncertainty regarding the returns/ retirements of Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne that plagued the Anaheim Ducks Hockey Team for a good chunk of last season, the team has imposed a deadline to the players to make a decision about returning for next season…

Ducks GM Brian Burke has given the two until the NHL Entry Draft (June 20-21) to let the team know about their intentions for next season…

Scott Niedermayer is in the final year of a four year contract and Teemu Selanne signed a one year contract with the Anaheim Ducks lat season so he’s a free agent this season as well and free to sign with any club.

I think it’s a good move by the Ducks…

Not knowing whether or not two of your star players will be coming back really wore on the club last year… They started last season slow as if they were just waiting for their star players to return… When they did return, the Ducks had to unload Andy McDonald to make space under the salary cap…

I’d really like to see NiederMayer come back because there’s just not that many defenseman in the league that can do what Scotty does…

Teemu Selanne?

Scoring can be replaced but it would be nice to see him back as well…

Either way good strategy by the Anaheim Ducks Hockey Team.
